Some songs say just the right thing to us at precisely the right time. Tuning into exactly how his generation thinks and feels with an insider’s understanding, tana writes those kinds of anthems. It’s why the 17-year-old has already reached gold status, piled up nearly half-a-billion streams, and earned widespread acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, Lyrical Lemonade, and many more. It’s also why his 2023 EP DALE [Galactic Records/Republic Records] connects on such an intimate level.
The Columbus, GA native embraced music as a kid. Teaching himself how to record at the age of twelve, he cooked up tracks in his bedroom and began buzzing on Soundcloud as “BabySantana.” It wasn’t long before Lil Tecca blessed tana’s “Prada (Remix)” with a verse, opening doors in the process. Still, tana took the ball and ran with it on his own terms, serving up the gold-selling “Antisocial”, “Antisocial 2”, “14”, and “off the leash!”. In early 2023, he released GAULTIER, with standout tracks "fear no man", "swaggin like this” (with Lancey Foux), and “hell yeah,” Our Generation Music hailed it as “tana’s best body of work to date.” Meanwhile, he supported Lil Tecca on dozens of sold out shows around the world. Along the way, he assembled what would become DALE. This time around, he tackled real-life circumstances from a mature perspective which developed into his most personal body of work to date, codified by the title’s dual meaning and fan favorites “HI-ROLLER FOREIGNER” and “BET.”
2024 kicked off with the release "Decatur," a highly-anticipated single that offered a taste of tana's evolving sound, ushering in a new phase of his musical journey while channeling influence from the music he grew up listening to. He again took the stage with Lil Tecca on the HVN ON EARTH tour and made notable appearances at festivals such as Rolling Loud California. With his latest project BANA, tana revisits the musical influences of the “golden age” of Atlanta trap, infusing that with his innovative style to craft a sound that is simultaneously fresh and nostalgically resonant. This artistic growth was showcased once again with the release of the project’s second single "Jesus Piece," hot on the heels of "Decatur", with both songs featured on his eagerly awaited April 2024 mixtape, BANA. In May 2024, tana kicked off the first leg of his BANA tour, set to extend into the fall. Furthermore, tana is preparing to release a collaborative project with iconic Atlanta producer Zaytoven later this summer.
